about

My debut album is a brief collection of songs I’ve written over the years. I got to that point of wanting to release my music, and i am very eager to continue. The songs on this album are widely different in their age. I wrote “Water“ when i was 15, and I wrote the first track “What Will The World Be“ just days before it was recorded. “Water“ is kind of a sad love song I wrote for myself when I first got the feeling of being no good for others. “What Will The World Be“ is a cry about how this world will end up if people keep feeling like they should be more than they are.

I hope the music feels inviting, because that is what i want. To invite you in.

About Sara Fjeldvær,
Singer-/songwriter Sara Fjeldvær grew up on a small island called Hitra on the coast of Norway. "Being surrounded by the ocean and beautiful nature must've done something to me and my creativity". Raised in a house full of instruments in a small community, inspiration was no shortage. Spending her early teens listening to Eva Cassidy, Susanne Sundfør and her fathers piano playing, Fjeldvær started writing songs and performing from an early age, and quickly found a home on the stage.

When moving out at 16 to attend music studies in Trondheim, Fjeldvær fell in love with Led Zeppelin, The Who and Bob Dylan among others, and grew a curiosity for her own voice. Combining her discovery of 70s rock and blues with her classical singing tuition, Fjeldvær created a unique and expressive sound. She went on to study Performing Jazz at The Music Conservatory at NTNU, expanding her songwriting and musical universe further, blending expressions of improvisational music and a new love for traditional singing.

Fjeldvær refers to her debut album "Sara Fjeldvær "as a “band record”, much shaped by the musicians of the band: Amund Storløkken Åse (I LIKE TO SLEEP), Johannes Konstad Brevik (The Impossible Green), Alexander Riris (Barrage) and Øyvind Leite (I LIKE TO SLEEP, Toy Savoy). The album expresses the great
loneliness life offers, as well as songs of love, desperation and hope.
