Norwegian singer-/songwriter Sara Fjeldvær has established herself as one of the most exciting new voices on the Scandinavian alternative pop scene. This year she toured some of the biggest festivals in Norway such as by:Larm, Pstereo and Trænafestivalen, and received NOPAs songwriter grant in addition to a nomination for this years “Stjerneskudd”.

So look up! Sara Fjeldvær’s “Stars” is packed with pictorial depictions, encouragements and reflections. The album questions how different we are, pokes at our social norms, and uses stars to describe the deafening city lights, as well as replacing the divine and depicting love itself. Honest lyrics and admonishing singing are woven together with elegant string arrangements and heavy guitar as Fjeldvær now plunges deeper into her musical ocean. She guides us with ease through hook-laden melodies and transcendent vocals in her alt/folk/pop music. Fjeldvær explores seemingly universal feelings and depicts a loneliness the big city endures with its inevitable lamp posts and shop lights. The lyrics deal with conflicting feelings about city life versus rural life, love versus loneliness, and doubt versus hope for fellow human beings. Songs like Outrageous, Proposition and We All Know Too Well poke at our big society, and criticize our lack of blessing to cry in public, and our tendency to be know-it-alls. But Fjeldvær doesn’t like to complain, and tempers her lyrics with a deep recollection of hope. "I'm an optimist in the true sense of the word, and I don't need to squint my eyes that long before I see the end of the tunnel."

"Stars" will be released on the 9th of February 2024 on Fjordgata Records.
